Paul Alexander wasn’t the straight edge, overachiever who landed the job of his dreams straight out of school. In fact, if you had met him more than a year ago, he may have been serving you drinks. But alas, his passion to me creating things people loved to play drove him into the arms of Ryan Payton and the team at Camouflaj in Seattle, makers of the stealth-action game République. I wasn’t surprised to find out that Paul wears many hats as a designer for the studio, but what I was surprised to find was just how much he and I had in common when it came to the creation of products. We talk about building games for mobile, life after Kickstarter, monetization on the app store, and striving for minimalism in the face of playability.
